Scholarships are awarded to qualifying students pursuing a career in Land Surveying who are enrolled in a Washington college program that offers Land Surveying classes or are enrolled in classes in the Geomatics program at the Oregon Institute of Technology. A desire to work in Washington State is preferred. The LSAW Foundation administers scholarships on behalf of individuals, families, and LSAW chapters in addition to scholarship awards supported by the LSAW Auxiliary and the Foundation:
- John Thalacker Memorial Scholarship -- Open to all applicants, preference given to students who reside in or who are enrolled in a Surveying degree program in Island, San Juan, Skagit or Whatcom counties at the time of submittal
- John Thomas Memorial Scholarship - Open to all applicants
- Mike Mickiewicz Memorial Scholarship – Open all applicants
- North Olympic Surveyors Memorial Scholarship – Open to all applicants
- LSAW Foundation Scholarship – Open to all applicants
- Jim Coan Scholarship - Competitive scholarship, open to all applicants
- Must be enrolled in a land survey curriculum program (all levels)
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA for classes in current program
- The following preferences will be applied
- For a student who has demonstrated a commitment to professional activities and shown leadership abilities
- For a student who has demonstrated an interest in residing and working the the State of Washington
- Multiple candidates may be considered
- The minimum award amount is $2000.
The Scholarship Committee will make selections based upon the information contained on the COMPLETED application and transcripts, as well as, the essay responses and recommendations. All of the information in your application will be considered.
Award amounts are determined in part by the number of and quality of applications received, evaluation of applications by the Board of Directors, local scholarship committees and instructions we receive from donors. The application and instructions can be found on the Scholarship Application Tab.
To be considered for this year's scholarships, the completed application must be postmarked/transmitted by June 1st. Applicants will be notified by mail or email on or about August 15th.
